Taiko is a drumming activity that is suitable for all ages! You will learn more about the art and culture of Taiko, while at the same time enjoying a time of rhythmic playing, increased hand-and-eye coordination/movements, strengthening and improving physical abilities and raising cognitive ability, all while introducing a healthy and positive activity to promote active aging and bonding with one another.

In Japanese, taiko refers to any kind of drum, but outside Japan, it is used to refer to any of the various Japanese drums called wadaiko and to the form of ensemble taiko drumming more specifically called kumi-daiko.

What you can expect:

• Appreciate and relate to the art and beauty of Japanese Taiko Drumming and its culture. Understanding of basic Taiko drumming rhythms and techniques. 
• Participants show improvement in their cognitive and emotional well being through the programme, and forging new friendships.
• Participants to have a fresh perspective to active aging and not be daunted to learn and pick up a new skill, art or music.

Attire: Sports wear

Things to bring: Water bottle, change of clothes (optional)
