Reimagining Ageing-in-Place

With Singapore’s senior population set to reach 1.8 million by 2030, the need for age-friendly homes has never been greater. While many dream of retiring to new surroundings, statistics show that 86% of seniors prefer to remain in their current homes, valuing familiarity, independence, and community connections.

But staying put requires foresight and thoughtful design—a home must evolve alongside its occupants, ensuring safety, accessibility, and comfort without compromising on aesthetics.

That’s the vision behind an upcoming project by Ageing Asia, ASPIRE55 and Mudian, which will saw Edwin Chia, 72, and Maureen Chua, 69, transform their two-bedroom apartment at Dakota Residences into a model of age-friendly universal design.

The project will features multiple product partners, each showcasing cutting-edge health, wellness, and ageing-in-place solutions in Edwin and Maureen’s home.
